Barrier Contraception

Barrier contraception includes male and female condoms with spermicide gel, Diaphragm and cervical cap. Although these methods are convenient, given they are over the counter, they are not as effective as long acting and hormonal contraceptives. We recommend condom use for most patients as they will help prevent sexually transmitted diseases, and can also be added contraception to IUD’s, hormone implants, birth control pills and injectable contraceptives.
